Alejo Gonzalez Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident Near Moses Lake

On July 28, 2025, at approximately 9:25 PM, a fatal collision occurred on State Route 171 near Moses Lake, Washington. Alejo Gonzalez, a 73-year-old resident of Moses Lake, was struck by a southbound SUV while attempting to cross the highway without utilizing a designated crosswalk. The impact resulted in Gonzalez’s immediate death at the scene of the accident. The driver, identified as 41-year-old Amy Long, remained uninjured, as did her three passengers: an 11-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, and 44-year-old Troy Long. Authorities from the Washington State Patrol confirmed that all occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts, and there was no evidence of impairment on the part of the driver.The incident remains under investigation by the Washington State Patrol, and no charges have been filed against Amy Long at this time. The circumstances surrounding Gonzalez’s decision to cross outside a crosswalk and the precise factors contributing to the collision are yet to be fully determined.
