Anais Peralta Involved in Fatal Wrong-Way Collision in Texas

On April 18, 2024, a catastrophic head-on collision occurred on Highway 96 near County Road 791, approximately four miles south of Buna, Texas, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). At approximately 8:15 p.m., 41-year-old Tonya Beall of Willis, operating a 2023 Hyundai Elantra, veered into the southbound lane while traveling northbound, striking a 2024 Kia Sportage driven by 29-year-old Anais Peralta of Marshall. The impact resulted in the immediate deaths of Beall and Peralta’s 8-year-old child, a passenger in the Kia. Peralta sustained severe, life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to a medical facility. The incident necessitated the closure of Highway 96’s southbound lanes for several hours, with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office providing traffic control assistance. The DPS continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this fatal crash.
