David Hofstadter Killed in Fatal Semi Truck Collision on Highway 55 in Manannah Township, MN

On August 15, 2025, at approximately 3:03 PM, a fatal collision occurred involving two Kenworth semi trucks on Highway 55 in Manannah Township, Meeker County, Minnesota. A 1996 Kenworth semi truck, driven by 73-year-old Thomas Joseph Haag of Eden Valley, was stationary in the eastbound lane, waiting to turn into a driveway. A second semi truck, a 2002 Kenworth, also eastbound, collided with the rear of the stationary vehicle.

The driver of the second semi, 57-year-old David Allen Hofstadter of Burtrum, MN, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not confirmed whether he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The roadway was dry, and no alcohol was involved. Multiple local agencies responded to the scene, including sheriff's offices from Meeker and Stearns counties, as well as Eden Valley Police and emergency services.
