Eric Snyder Dies in Bibb County Jail: Investigation Underway

On March 15, 2025, Eric Snyder, a 60-year-old inmate at the Bibb County Jail in Macon, Georgia, was pronounced dead at Atrium Hospital after collapsing in his cell. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office reported that fellow inmates alerted deputies to Snyder's condition, prompting immediate life-saving efforts by medical staff until EMS arrived. Despite these measures, Snyder passed away at the hospital, marking a somber event now under scrutiny due to its classification as an "in-custody death."

Snyder had been in custody since March 5, 2022, facing charges of aggravated assault and probation violation. Housed in the T.A. block, designated for inmate trustees, he was on the non-work side at the time of the incident. Authorities have scheduled an autopsy to determine the cause of death, and the investigation continues as officials seek to clarify the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.
