Felix Aguilar: Survivor of Tulsa Wrong-Way Crash Faces Long Road to Recovery

On June 1, 2025, in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma, a serious collision occurred involving Felix Aguilar, aged 28, and Carlos Arteaga, aged 21, who were riding motorcycles westbound on the Inner Dispersal Loop. The incident was caused by 64-year-old James Basse, who allegedly drove the wrong way under the influence of alcohol, striking the motorcyclists head-on. Basse was subsequently arrested and charged with DUI and first-degree manslaughter. Carlos Arteaga did not survive the crash, while Felix Aguilar sustained severe injuries requiring extensive medical intervention.

Felix Aguilar, an engineer and recent homeowner, remains in critical condition following multiple surgeries, which included the amputation of a leg and a finger, in addition to treatment for numerous fractures. The families of both Aguilar and Arteaga have expressed profound distress over the incident and are particularly dismayed by the release of James Basse on bond shortly after his arrest. They intend to attend future court proceedings to advocate for accountability and justice in response to this tragedy.
