Inmate Rachel Nalley Found Dead in Oklahoma County Detention Center

On the morning of April 26, 2025, Rachel Nalley, an inmate at the Oklahoma County Detention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was discovered unresponsive in her cell during a routine wellness check conducted at approximately 7:20 a.m. Detention center officials reported that medical staff, alongside personnel from the Oklahoma City Fire Department, promptly initiated life-saving measures; however, despite their efforts, Nalley was pronounced deceased at 7:27 a.m. Born on March 17, 1990, Nalley had been detained since April 21, 2025, following a failure to appear in court on charges related to engaging in prostitution and possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of her death, which is currently being treated as a homicide in line with standard protocol for inmate fatalities. The Oklahoma County Detention Center has clarified that all such incidents are initially classified as homicides pending a conclusive determination from the State Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation remains active, with additional information to be provided as it emerges.
