Karen Perez Injured in Fatal Seven-Vehicle Crash on I-35W in Moundsview
On April 29, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a devastating multi-vehicle collision occurred on Southbound I-35W at County Road I in Moundsview, Ramsey County, Minnesota. The incident, involving seven vehicles, was initiated by a merging conflict that triggered a chain reaction crash, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. Karen Monable Mejia Perez, a 49-year-old Minneapolis resident and passenger in a 2018 Ford Edge, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. The crash claimed the life of 67-year-old Kirby Kyle Schwarzkopf of Brooklyn Park, who was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Impala, marking a tragic loss for the community.
