Kimberly Hancock Critically Injured in High-Speed Police Chase Collision – Livonia, Michigan – August 2, 2025

On August 2, 2025, Kimberly Hancock, a healthcare worker and mother of four from Redford, Michigan, was critically injured in a high-speed collision in Livonia. Authorities state that Hancock was legally proceeding through a green light at the intersection of 5 Mile and Merriman when a vehicle driven by Dawone Cook Jr., who was fleeing police at approximately 100 mph, ran a red light and crashed into her vehicle, splitting it in half. The rear half of Hancock’s vehicle caught fire after being propelled into a nearby gas station.

Hancock sustained extensive internal injuries and multiple fractures, requiring emergency surgery and ICU care. She remains hospitalized. Cook, who was on federal probation at the time, attempted to flee the scene on foot but was arrested shortly after. He is currently facing multiple felony charges. The investigation remains ongoing, and Hancock’s family has established a fundraiser to cover rising medical expenses.
