Lloyd Young Killed in McLean County Bicycle Accident Involving Motor Vehicle

Authorities in McLean County, Illinois, have identified Lloyd Young, 57, of Boston, Massachusetts, as the cyclist killed in a motor vehicle collision on Saturday, August 23, 2025. According to initial reports, a 2017 Nissan sedan driven by a 54-year-old woman struck Young while he was riding along 500 East and 1950 North roads shortly before 3:00 p.m.

Young was transported to Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, where he was later pronounced dead from multiple blunt force injuries. He was employed as a photo editor for the Boston Globe at the time of the incident. The McLean County Coroner's Office and Sheriff's Office are conducting a joint investigation.
