Margaret Evens Injured in Stearns County Car Accident on I-94

On May 24, 2025, at approximately 9:58 AM, a traffic accident occurred on westbound Interstate 94 near milepost 155 in Avon Township, Stearns County, Minnesota, as reported by the Minnesota State Patrol. A 2019 Jeep Cherokee, operated by 74-year-old Joann Mary Dirkes of Avon, Minnesota, lost control on a dry roadway and rolled into a ditch. While Ms. Dirkes, the driver, sustained no injuries, her passenger, 76-year-old Margaret Evens, also from Avon, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Ambulance, with assistance from the Avon Fire Department and Stearns County authorities.

Both individuals were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident, and the airbags in the vehicle deployed as designed. The Minnesota State Patrol has confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
