Melissa Borman Involved in Traffic Incident on June 19, 2025
On June 19, 2025, at 12:45 PM, a traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 371 and County Road 29 in Pequot Lakes, Crow Wing County, Minnesota. A 2002 Chevy Silverado, operated by 16-year-old Brak Matthew Schramm of Pequot Lakes, was northbound on Highway 371 and attempting to turn left onto County Road 29 while towing a tandem axle trailer. Concurrently, a 2010 Chevy Cobalt, driven by 65-year-old Peter John Borman of Backus, Minnesota, was traveling southbound on Highway 371. Despite efforts to stop, the Cobalt collided with the trailer attached to the Silverado.
Melissa Marie Borman, a 40-year-old passenger in the Cobalt from Backus, Minnesota, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident. She was transported to Essentia St. Joe’s Hospital in Brainerd for medical evaluation and treatment. Another passenger, 10-year-old Hunter Marie Borman, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received care at the same facility. The driver, Peter John Borman, and a third passenger, 9-year-old Maverick Borman, were uninjured. Brak Matthew Schramm, the driver of the Silverado, reported no injuries. All parties involved were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not a contributing factor. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the incident, with support from the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office and other local agencies.
