According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by 39-year-old Tiffany Marie Ruther of Perham, Minnesota, was attempting a U-turn from the northbound shoulder when it collided with a 2019 Nissan Titan traveling northbound on Highway 59. The Nissan Titan was driven by 59-year-old David Dwayne Schmaltz of Barnesville, Minnesota, with 52-year-old Michelle Rae Schmaltz, also of Barnesville, as a passenger. The incident took place under dry road conditions and involved no alcohol, as reported by authorities.
