Rick Ray and Lynette Ray Injured in Chippewa County Collision

On May 4, 2025, at approximately 12:59 PM, a collision occurred on Highway 7 near County Road 6 in Leenthrop Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 1998 BMW 318 Hatchback, driven by 40-year-old Jose Guadalupe Medina of Fontana, California, was traveling westbound on Highway 7 when it attempted to execute a U-turn. Simultaneously, a 2020 Ford Escape, driven by 72-year-old Rick Alan Ray of Montevideo, Minnesota, was also traveling westbound on Highway 7 behind the BMW. The two vehicles collided near the intersection of County Road 6 under dry road conditions.

Rick Ray and his passenger, 68-year-old Lynette Rekay Ray, also of Montevideo, sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident and were transported to Montevideo Hospital for medical treatment. Jose Guadalupe Medina emerged from the collision uninjured. Emergency response teams, including the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, Montevideo Fire Department, and Chippewa County Ambulance, attended the scene.
