Sarah Sierra-Ruiz Alleges Negligence by Saint Francis Hospital in Allergy Oversight
In April 2025, Sarah Sierra-Ruiz visited Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for an abscess drainage procedure. According to her account, her medical records documented an allergy to doxycycline, and she verbally informed the hospital staff of this condition. Despite these precautions, she was administered Vibramycin, a brand name for doxycycline, resulting in severe allergic reactions. These reactions included persistent vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, rashes, and mouth sores, leading to a 17-day hospitalization. Sierra-Ruiz reports ongoing chronic pain and nerve issues following her discharge, which she attributes to the incident.
Saint Francis Hospital responded by waiving Sierra-Ruiz’s patient responsibility balance but has not provided further care coordination or addressed her continuing health complaints. When contacted for comment, the hospital cited legal restrictions preventing confirmation of patient details.
