Abdul Jafar Killed in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Maplewood, Minnesota – September 27, 2025
On September 27, 2025, Abdul Bakr Jafar, a 31-year-old resident of St. Paul, Minnesota, was killed in a hit-and-run collision in the 2300 block of Maryland Avenue East in Maplewood. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m., when Jafar was struck by a large conversion van. First responders arrived promptly, but despite attempts at resuscitation, Jafar was pronounced dead at the scene.
A neighbor’s surveillance footage captured the vehicle involved, which aided police in identifying and locating the suspect. Authorities traced the van to Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, where a 46-year-old male suspect was arrested around 11:00 a.m. on charges of criminal vehicular homicide. Preliminary reports suggest alcohol impairment may have been a factor. The suspect is currently being held at Ramsey County Jail as the investigation continues.
