Brad Hutton, Bradley Wrightsman, and John Nelson Sr. Identified in Fatal Sewer Gas Incident – Trinity County, TX | August 27, 2025

In Trinity County, Texas, on August 27, 2025, three men lost their lives after inhaling toxic sewer gas while working at a sewer plant in the Westwood Shores area. The victims were identified as Brad Hutton, 47, of Willis; Bradley Wrightsman, 46, of Katy; and John Nelson Sr., 52, of Cleveland. Two of the men were employed by H2O Innovation, and the third by Hydroclear Services.

According to authorities, a crew member initially entered a manhole to cap a leaking line in order to prevent sewage backup. He quickly lost consciousness due to toxic gas exposure. Two additional workers entered the confined space in succession to assist but also became unresponsive. All three bodies were recovered later that evening. The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
