Brantley Worley Shot in Line of Duty in McCaysville, Georgia – September 2025

On September 12, 2025, Captain Brantley Worley of the McCaysville Police Department was shot in the throat while responding to an active call. The incident occurred in McCaysville, Georgia, and resulted in Worley being airlifted to a Chattanooga hospital, where he underwent surgery for a fractured nose and other related injuries. He was released from the hospital on September 16, returning home to Canton under police escort.

The suspect, identified as Timothy Craig Ramsey, was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated assault with intent to murder a police officer. Ramsey was denied bond by a judge. The case remains under investigation. Despite severe injuries, Captain Worley’s survival and return have been characterized as a "miracle" by those familiar with the situation.
