Cynthia Scarpitti Injured in Sycamore Intersection Crash – October 20, 2025

In Sycamore, Illinois, on October 20, 2025, Cynthia Scarpitti, 62, of Maple Park, sustained non-serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of County Line Road and Illinois Route 64. The collision involved a southbound Mazda operated by a 25-year-old Mount Prospect resident, who failed to yield at a stop sign, and a westbound 2013 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Scarpitti. The Mazda was struck on the driver’s side by the Chevrolet, resulting in a fatality for the younger driver.

Scarpitti was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the DeKalb County Coroner, is conducting a full investigation into the incident. No indications of alcohol or drugs were reported in the preliminary reports. The crash underscores the ongoing risks associated with intersection traffic violations, particularly stop-sign and right-of-way infractions.
