Cynthia Whitted, 66, Injured in Red Light Violation Crash on Old Cornelia Highway in Hall County, Georgia - November 11, 2025

A two-vehicle collision occurred on November 11, 2025, at approximately 4:30 PM at the intersection of Old Cornelia Highway and Joe Chandler Road in North Hall County, Georgia, resulting in injuries to two occupants of one vehicle and subsequent criminal charges against the at-fault driver. According to the Georgia State Patrol investigation, a tan Ford F350 operated by Hoyt Edward Dodd, 78, of Alto, Georgia, was traveling eastbound on Old Cornelia Highway when the vehicle failed to stop at a red traffic signal at the intersection with Joe Chandler Road. The Ford F350 subsequently collided with a red Mitsubishi Outlander that was traveling northbound through the intersection from Joe Chandler Road and attempting to execute a left turn onto Old Cornelia Highway.

Cynthia Carrington Whitted, a 66-year-old female resident of Commerce, Georgia, was operating the Mitsubishi Outlander at the time of the collision and sustained injuries requiring immediate medical transportation. A passenger in Whitted's vehicle, identified as James L. Camp, 66, also of Commerce, Georgia, was transported for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Camp subsequently succumbed to his injuries on November 17, 2025, six days following the collision. Upon notification of Camp's death, the Georgia State Patrol pursued criminal charges against the at-fault driver. Dodd was arrested and booked into the Hall County Jail on Friday, November 22, 2025, on charges of vehicular homicide in the second degree. He was released the same day after posting bonds totaling $16,830. The collision investigation determined that the failure to obey the traffic control device was the primary causal factor in the fatal incident.
