Deputy Victor Rodriguez Released from Hospital After Augusta, GA Shootout – October 5, 2025

In Augusta, Georgia, on October 5, 2025, Deputy Victor Rodriguez of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was released from Wellstar MCG Hospital following injuries sustained during a shootout with a suspect near Washington Road. The incident occurred early Thursday morning when 20-year-old Dalyn Elder allegedly opened fire on deputies responding to an armed robbery near Interstate 20. Rodriguez, who was struck twice in the torso and grazed once, is expected to make a full recovery.
