Edison Hernandez Fatally Struck in Longmeadow Motorcycle Crash

On August 12, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., a fatal collision occurred on Interstate 91 at the 0.8 mile-marker in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Edison Lajara Hernandez, a motorcyclist from Holyoke, was traveling northbound when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck that had made a U-turn from the southbound lane using an emergency turnaround, entering the northbound side of the highway. Hernandez was pronounced deceased at the scene despite attempts at life-saving measures by a State Police detective and other emergency personnel. The two occupants of the pickup truck were transported to Baystate Medical Center, with the extent of their injuries undisclosed.The crash, which occurred in a construction-related traffic zone, remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police, with witnesses confirming the pickup truck’s U-turn maneuver.
