Eileen Ausland Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 210 in Sylvan Township, MN

On August 27, 2025, a traffic incident involving two vehicles occurred at Milepost 115 on Highway 210 in Sylvan Township, Cass County, Minnesota. According to official reports, a 2006 Chevrolet Impala attempted a u-turn in the path of a westbound 2012 Hyundai Tucson, resulting in a collision. The road was dry at the time, and no alcohol was involved.

The Hyundai Tucson was operated by 75-year-old Eileen Rose Ausland of Pillager, Minnesota. Ausland sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Essentia Health – St. Joseph's in Brainerd for medical evaluation. The driver of the Impala, 22-year-old Matthew Scott Smart of Onamia, Minnesota, was uninjured. Emergency response was provided by Cass County deputies, North Ambulance, and the Pillager Fire Department.
