Fatal Crash Claims Life of Daniel Barrientez Jr. in Midland County, Texas – September 24, 2025
On the morning of September 24, 2025, a fatal three-vehicle collision occurred in Midland County, Texas, resulting in the death of 46-year-old Daniel Barrientez Jr. of San Angelo. According to preliminary information from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash took place at approximately 6 a.m. at the intersection of State Highway 158 and Farm-to-Market Road 1379. Barrientez was traveling westbound in a 2015 GMC 3500 when another vehicle, a 2012 Mack CXU driven by 22-year-old Fernando Gonzalez of Sonora, failed to yield the right of way and entered the highway from a private drive.
The impact caused Barrientez’s vehicle to strike Gonzalez’s trailer and come to rest in the westbound lanes. Shortly after, a third vehicle—a 2000 Freightliner with a trailer driven by 43-year-old Yaikel Preito of Round Rock—collided with Gonzalez’s truck. Daniel Barrientez Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene, while neither Gonzalez nor Preito sustained injuries. The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
