Lizbeth Rodriguez Contreras and Diego Peña Jr. Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Grand Parkway in Richmond, TX – December 20, 2025

On December 20, 2025, in Richmond, Texas, Lizbeth Rodriguez Contreras and Diego Peña Jr. were killed in a head-on collision caused by an alleged wrong-way driver on the Grand Parkway. The crash occurred around 2 a.m. along Highway 99, just past FM 1464 in Fort Bend County. According to investigators, the family of four was traveling northbound when their vehicle was struck by a driver traveling in the opposite direction.

Lizbeth Rodriguez Contreras, 27, and her 5-year-old daughter, Camila Peña, were pronounced dead at the scene. Diego Peña Jr. and a 3-year-old boy were transported to the hospital, where Peña later died. The surviving child remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Authorities identified the wrong-way driver as a 28-year-old woman who was airlifted with injuries not considered life-threatening. Investigators have indicated that alcohol may have been a contributing factor. No charges have been formally filed as the investigation continues.
