Jacob Bloom Killed in Accidental Muzzleloader Discharge During Hunting Trip in Yakima County, Washington – September 27, 2025

On September 27, 2025, a fatal hunting incident occurred at the Sunnyside Wildlife Area – I-82 Ponds Unit in Yakima County, Washington. According to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, 49-year-old Jacob Bloom died after a muzzleloader rifle accidentally discharged during a hunting outing involving a group of four men.

Authorities from both the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife responded to the scene at approximately 5:30 p.m. A joint investigation is currently underway to determine the specific circumstances surrounding the accidental firearm discharge.
