James Raymond Stone Seriously Injured in I-35W Pedestrian Collision in Burnsville, Minnesota on January 9, 2026

A serious traffic incident on Interstate 35W in Burnsville left one man with life-threatening injuries Friday evening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash occurred at approximately 7:13 p.m. on the southbound lanes near the Cliff Road exit, where a semi-truck exited via the long ramp and struck both a pedestrian and a vehicle that were in the roadway.

James Raymond Stone, 38, of Lakeville, Minnesota, was identified as the driver of a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox involved in the incident. Authorities reported that Stone was not wearing a seat belt and sustained critical injuries, requiring transport to Hennepin County Medical Center. The semi-truck driver was uninjured, and road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the crash. The circumstances surrounding why a pedestrian and vehicle were present in the roadway remain under review.
