James Robert Lane Injured in Highway 14 Crash in Courtland Township, Nicollet County on January 16, 2026
In the early morning hours of January 16, 2026, a two-vehicle collision on Highway 14 in Courtland Township, Nicollet County, left James Robert Lane of New Ulm injured. The crash occurred at approximately 7:44 a.m. near milepost 115, under reported snow and ice conditions that affected the roadway at the time of the incident.
According to authorities, a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound collided with a 2024 Subaru Forester traveling westbound. Lane, 40, was a passenger in the Silverado. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Mankato Mayo Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Silverado, Naomi Justice Hatfield, 30, and a five-year-old passenger were also reported to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the same facility. The driver of the Subaru, 21-year-old Mikayla Mae Peterson of North Mankato, was not injured. Emergency response included personnel from the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, Courtland Fire Department, and Allina EMS. Authorities indicated that alcohol was not suspected in the crash.
