On January 17, 2026, a fatal train-pedestrian collision occurred beneath the Cowlitz Way Bridge underpass near North First Avenue and Church Street in Kelso, Washington. Authorities confirmed that Joshua P. Lewis, 38, of Hoquiam, was struck by an Amtrak train identified as the Coast Starlight, which operates between Los Angeles and Seattle.
