Juan Jose Rodriguez Killed in Fatal Head-On Collision Near Presidio, Texas – October 3, 2025

In Presidio County, Texas, on October 3, 2025, 82-year-old Juan Jose Rodriguez of Pecos was killed in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 67, approximately 12 miles north of Presidio. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 4:20 p.m. when a Chevrolet Avalanche traveling south crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a GMC Sierra pickup. Both Rodriguez and the driver of the Avalanche, 59-year-old Refujio Castillo, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Three others were injured in the collision, including one woman in critical condition who was transported to a hospital in Odessa, and two additional passengers who were taken to a Big Bend area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding potential contributing factors such as road conditions or driver impairment.
