Juan Jose Rodriguez Killed in Fatal Head-On Collision Near Presidio, Texas – October 3, 2025

In Presidio County, Texas, on October 3, 2025, 82-year-old Juan Jose Rodriguez of Pecos was killed in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 67, approximately 12 miles north of Presidio. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 4:20 p.m. when a Chevrolet Avalanche traveling south crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a GMC Sierra pickup. Both Rodriguez and the driver of the Avalanche, 59-year-old Refujio Castillo, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Three others were injured in the collision, including one woman in critical condition who was transported to a hospital in Odessa, and two additional passengers who were taken to a Big Bend area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
