Manuel Aguilar Diaz Involved in Fatal Collision Near Washtucna, Washington on November 20, 2025

A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred late Thursday morning on November 20, 2025, along state Route 26 west of Washtucna, Washington. According to the Washington State Patrol, a 2011 Ford F-150 driven by 24-year-old Matthew L. Cunnington failed to stop at a posted stop sign on Marcellus Road shortly after 11 a.m. The pickup entered SR 26 and was struck by a westbound semi-truck operated by Manuel Aguilar Diaz, 39, of Yakima. Cunnington was pronounced deceased at the scene, and both vehicles came to rest along the shoulders of the highway.

Aguilar Diaz was transported as a precaution but was not reported injured. Authorities confirmed that both drivers were wearing seat belts, and it remains undetermined whether impairment played a role. The collision restricted SR 26 to one lane for several hours before the roadway fully reopened at approximately 4 p.m. The incident remains under active review by the Washington State Patrol.
