Matthew Cuadra Identified Among Victims in Fatal South Side Chicago Crash – October 18, 2025
In Chicago, Illinois, on the night of October 18, 2025, a fatal collision on the South Side claimed the lives of two individuals, including 20-year-old Matthew Cuadra. According to Chicago police, the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the 7500 block of South Vincennes Avenue in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. A 37-year-old woman driving a gray Buick sedan attempted a left turn without yielding, colliding with a black Dodge carrying five occupants.
The impact proved catastrophic. Both Cuadra and 18-year-old passenger April Valencia were transported to the University of Chicago Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The remaining passengers — a 15-year-old girl, a 25-year-old woman, and the 26-year-old driver — sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities issued a citation to the Buick driver for failure to yield, and the investigation remains ongoing. The tragedy has underscored persistent concerns about urban traffic safety and driver negligence on Chicago’s busy arterial roads.
