Mauricio Hernandez Injured in Big Spring, Texas Crash on December 31, 2025; Infant Dies, Driver Charged with Intoxication Manslaughter

On December 31, 2025, Mauricio Hernandez, 50, was injured in a two-vehicle collision in Big Spring, Texas, an incident that later resulted in the death of a seven-month-old child and criminal charges against another driver. According to police, officers responded at approximately 8:22 p.m. to the 500 block of South Gregg Street following reports of a crash involving a 2011 Toyota Corolla and a 2009 Nissan Frontier pickup. Investigators determined that the Corolla had been traveling eastbound on West Fifth Street and failed to yield at a stop sign before colliding with the southbound Frontier on Gregg Street.

Hernandez, the driver of the Frontier, and a juvenile passenger were transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Corolla, identified as 23-year-old Colton White, and a seven-month-old passenger were also hospitalized. The infant was later transferred to University Medical Center in Lubbock, where she died from injuries sustained in the crash. Following the preliminary investigation, authorities charged White with intoxication manslaughter and executed an additional arrest warrant related to a safety belt violation. The investigation remains ongoing.
