Morton Saenz Dies After Central Lubbock, Texas Crash on December 22, 2025 While Assisting Stranded Driver

LUBBOCK, Texas — Morton Saenz, 43, died following a three-vehicle crash in central Lubbock on the evening of December 22, 2025. Officers were dispatched shortly before 7 p.m. to Spur 327 at the West Loop Frontage Road, where they found Saenz critically injured.

Investigators determined that Saenz had stopped to assist a stranded motorist and was in the process of hitching the disabled vehicle to his pickup when another vehicle struck him. He was transported to University Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The stranded driver, identified as 29-year-old Collin Houghton, was not injured. Authorities have stated that the crash remains under investigation.
