Nathan Taylor Budisalovich, 31, Injured in Three-Vehicle Collision on Highway 53 in Canosia Township, Minnesota - December 10, 2025
A multi-vehicle traffic incident occurred on December 10, 2025, at approximately 12:30 PM on southbound Highway 53 at Midway Road in Canosia Township, St. Louis County, Minnesota. The collision involved three vehicles: a 2018 Toyota RAV4, a 2009 Volvo C30 Hatchback, and a 2016 Ford Fusion. According to the Minnesota State Patrol incident report, the operator of the Toyota RAV4, identified as Catherine Jeanette Chavers, 66, of Orr, Minnesota, was traveling northbound on Highway 53 when she failed to stop at a red traffic signal. The vehicle subsequently struck the Volvo C30 Hatchback, which was traveling southbound on Midway Road, before spinning and colliding with the stationary Ford Fusion that was stopped at the red light in the northbound lanes.
Nathan Taylor Budisalovich, a 31-year-old male resident of Cloquet, Minnesota, was operating the Ford Fusion at the time of impact and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Despite his injuries, Budisalovich was not transported to a medical facility for treatment. A passenger in the Ford Fusion, Israel Jay Peterson, 21, of Mahtowa, Minnesota, was uninjured in the incident. The operator of the Toyota RAV4, Chavers, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Essentia Hospital in Duluth. The occupants of the Volvo C30 Hatchback, Thomas George Allen, 65, and Thomas Gerald Allen, 43, both of Duluth, Minnesota, reported no injuries. Emergency response to the scene included Canosia Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance, St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, and Dukes Towing. Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the collision, and alcohol was not a contributing factor in the incident.
