Owen Thomsen Fatally Injured in Riverton E-Bike Collision

On August 14, 2025, at approximately 6:00 a.m., a fatal collision occurred at the intersection of 1300 West and 12600 South in Riverton, Utah. Owen Thomsen, a 21-year-old riding an electric bike, was struck by a white utility vehicle that ran a red light while Thomsen was crossing a crosswalk. Thomsen was transported to a hospital in serious condition but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The driver of the utility vehicle, a male, is cooperating with the Riverton Police Department, which noted the vehicle was likely traveling at high speed, as the e-bike came to rest 180 feet from the point of impact.The incident remains under investigation, with authorities emphasizing the dangers of non-street-legal vehicles like e-bikes in traffic.
