Raeanne Encinas Found Deceased at Yakima County Jail in Yakima, Washington on December 16, 2025

Raeanne Encinas, a 44-year-old inmate at Yakima County Jail, was found unresponsive in her cell on the evening of December 16, 2025, according to the Yakima County Department of Corrections. A correctional officer discovered Encinas at approximately 8:45 p.m., after which jail staff and medical personnel initiated emergency care. Despite lifesaving efforts and the response of local fire and ambulance crews, she was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 9:23 p.m.

Authorities reported that the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office was notified and an independent, multi-agency investigation was initiated, involving law enforcement agencies from Union Gap, Moxee, and Grandview. The cause of death remains under investigation pending autopsy results. Raeanne Encinas had been taken into custody the previous day on multiple charges, and the Department of Corrections is conducting a separate internal review in accordance with established procedures.
