Renee Tormoen Injured in Head-On Collision on Highway 169 in Mille Lacs County

On June 1, 2025, at 1:09 PM, a head-on collision occurred on Highway 169 near Tamarack Road in South Harbor Township, Mille Lacs County, Minnesota. A 2004 Chevy Avalanche, driven by Allen Gene Williams, 72, of Garrison, MN, was traveling southbound when it crossed the center line and struck a 2019 Mazda CX5, driven by Renee Jean Tormoen, 64, of Merrifield, MN. The incident took place under dry road conditions. Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Onamia Hospital for treatment. Williams was not wearing a seatbelt and was under the influence of alcohol, while Tormoen was wearing a seatbelt and had no alcohol in her system.

The Minnesota State Patrol, along with the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office and Onamia Fire Department, responded to the scene.
