Rhea and Patrick Jung Involved in Fatal Crash in Galena, Illinois – October 24, 2025

On October 24, 2025, a multi-vehicle crash occurred on U.S. Route 20 near Galena, Illinois, resulting in one fatality and involving two local residents. According to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, the collision took place at approximately 8:17 p.m. when a westbound Chrysler, driven by 64-year-old Aleksandr Avanesov of Benton, Wisconsin, crossed the center line and struck an eastbound Rivian driven by 42-year-old Patrick Jung of Galena. His passenger, identified as Rhea Jung, was also in the vehicle at the time of the collision.

Emergency personnel pronounced Avanesov deceased after he was transported to a nearby hospital. Patrick and Rhea Jung were evaluated on scene for potential injuries. Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing. Preliminary findings indicate that the Chrysler’s deviation into oncoming traffic was the primary factor leading to the collision.
