Richard Malone Killed in Workplace Accident at Lyon LLC in Watseka, Illinois

On August 9, 2025, Richard Malone, a 64-year-old employee of Lyon LLC in Watseka, Illinois, suffered fatal injuries during a workplace incident. The Iroquois County Coroner reported that Malone was closing the facility around 3:00 a.m. when he attempted to shut an overhead door that had become stuck. In the process of trying to fix it, the door collapsed onto him. He was pronounced dead at 4:27 a.m., with the cause of death identified as blunt force trauma.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has initiated a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
