Roberto A. Rondon-Fleites Involved in Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on I-87 in Clarkstown, NY

On June 21, 2025, New York State Police responded to a fatal multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 87 southbound in the town of Clarkstown, Rockland County. The collision occurred at approximately 3:01 a.m. near Mile Marker 18.9, when a 2024 Subaru WRX, operated by Brian P. Tortora, age 33, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. The Subaru struck a 2017 Volvo truck towing a trailer, driven by Roberto A. Rondon-Fleites, age 52. A second collision followed when a 2016 Freightliner, operated by Wilber M. Ramos, struck both the Subaru and the Volvo.

Mr. Tortora was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Rondon-Fleites sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Nyack Hospital. Mr. Ramos was uninjured.
