A fatal train-pedestrian collision in Camp Point claimed the life of an elderly resident on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. According to authorities, the incident occurred shortly before noon on North Ohio Street near East State Street, prompting an emergency response from local and state agencies.
Ronald Shrader, Sr., 81, of Camp Point, was struck by an Amtrak train at approximately 11:50 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adams County Coroner’s Office. Deputies from the Adams County Sheriff’s Department, along with Illinois State Police and Amtrak Police, responded to the crash site. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
