Ruben Trevino Identified in Grant County Jail Death – Ephrata, Washington, November 6, 2025
Authorities in Ephrata, Washington, have identified the man who died while in custody at the Grant County Jail earlier this week as Ruben Trevino, age 54. According to Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison, Trevino’s cause of death was determined to be peritonitis resulting from a perforated duodenal ulcer. The medical findings indicate that a hole in Trevino’s intestines caused a severe infection that proved fatal.
Trevino was found unresponsive in his jail cell during the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts by jail staff, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Trevino had been held since October 31 following his arrest by the Moses Lake Police Department on suspicion of trafficking stolen property and theft. The Columbia Basin Investigative Team (CBIT)—comprised of detectives from Ellensburg, Othello, and Washington State Patrol—is conducting an independent investigation into the incident to ensure transparency.
