Six Flags Magic Mountain sued by more than 100 individuals over alleged ‘catastrophic brain damage’ and other injuries from X2 rollercoaster
Six Flags Magic Mountain in California is facing multiple lawsuits after three riders alleged they suffered catastrophic brain damage on the park's X2 roller coaster. More than 100 additional people have reported traumatic brain injuries linked to the Valencia amusement park attraction, according to the law firm representing the plaintiffs.
"These people went to Magic Mountain for some entertainment. For some family fun. And they suffered catastrophic brain damage," attorney Gary Dordick said at a press conference this week.
The X2 roller coaster has come under growing scrutiny in recent months following reports of severe rider injuries. In July 2026, two women suffered brain hemorrhages and required emergency surgery after riding the X2. One of them, 25-year-old Naomi Greer-Wilkinson, remains hospitalized. According to attorneys, doctors attributed the injuries to a "rapid acceleration-deceleration event" experienced during the ride.
A CNN investigation published in August found more than a dozen reports of serious injuries — including two deaths — connected to the X2 coaster over nearly 20 years.
Six Flags has stated it does not comment on pending litigation. The X2 has been closed since mid-July. The park's website describes a "comprehensive safety program," citing daily inspections along with regular evaluations by third-party ride inspectors, state and insurance inspectors, and company safety engineers.
Marketed as a "fifth-dimension wing roller coaster," the X2 features seats that rotate 360 degrees and flip riders as the coaster reaches speeds up to 76 mph, moving through half-loops that drop suddenly.
Dordick's firm says more than 300 people have come forward to report injuries. Attorney Christopher Bulone said experts believe the ride was engineered to be more dangerous than typical coasters, with greater variability and force. "It's the design of this ride that makes it inherently dangerous... Time after time, innocent people are coming off the ride with permanent brain damage," Bulone said.
