Trent Edward Evans Killed in Garbage Truck Crash in Orion Township, MI – September 10, 2025

On September 10, 2025, a fatal collision in Orion Township, Michigan, resulted in the death of 37-year-old Trent Edward Evans of Flint. According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 4:56 p.m. on East Silverbell Road near Lapeer Road when Evans, operating a 2020 Peterbilt 520 garbage truck, was struck by a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep, driven by a 16-year-old from Oakland Township, failed to yield while exiting a private driveway.

Evans attempted to avoid the collision by swerving, but the waste truck overturned and slid onto its side, impacting a utility pole. He was transported by paramedics to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The teen driver was uninjured. Authorities report that alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation by the Crash Reconstruction Unit.
