Yolanda Orozco-Delgado, 71, Critically Injured in Fatal Head-On Collision on US Highway 1 South in Toombs County, Georgia - November 19, 2025

A fatal head-on collision occurred on November 19, 2025, at approximately 8:00 PM on US Highway 1 South near Green Oak Road in Toombs County, Georgia, resulting in one fatality and one critical injury. According to the Toombs County Sheriff's Office, a white Ford truck traveling northbound crossed into the southbound lane and struck a white van head-on. Both vehicle operators were trapped inside their respective vehicles upon the arrival of emergency personnel. Toombs County Fire Department personnel worked to extricate both drivers while Toombs-Montgomery EMS provided on-scene medical care. The operator of the Ford truck, identified as Oliver Coleman, 86, of Swainsboro, Georgia, was transported to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Yolanda Orozco-Delgado, a 71-year-old female resident of Lyons, Georgia, was operating the van at the time of the collision and sustained critical injuries requiring immediate medical intervention. Orozco-Delgado was initially transported by ambulance to Air Evac Base 91 in Vidalia before being transferred via Air Evac 183 of Waycross to a medical facility in Savannah in critical condition. The Georgia State Patrol Post 18 in Reidsville assumed jurisdiction over the collision investigation. Preliminary evidence collected at the scene indicates that the Ford truck operated by Coleman crossed into the southbound lane of travel prior to the head-on impact. Investigators have determined that Coleman likely experienced a medical issue that resulted in loss of vehicle control, causing the northbound truck to veer into oncoming traffic. Sheriff Jordan Knight requested prayers for Orozco-Delgado, her family, and the Coleman family during this difficult period.
