Ricky Ornelas Killed in Suspected DUI Hit-and-Run in Houston, Texas – September 6, 2025

On the night of September 6, 2025, 34-year-old Ricky Ornelas was fatally struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident in southwest Houston, Texas. Prosecutors state that the driver, 20-year-old Yimy Ricardo Ulloa-Padilla, was operating a Ford F-150 while under the influence of alcohol—reportedly at twice the legal limit—when he struck Ornelas and fled the scene. The suspect was located two hours later and approximately three miles from the crash site, showing visible signs of intoxication and disorientation.

Ulloa-Padilla, who allegedly entered the United States illegally in 2022 and failed to appear for immigration hearings, was found with marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession. He is currently held on a $100,000 bond and faces charges including driving under the influence and failure to stop and render aid resulting in death.
