Walter Arnold Killed in Springfield, Illinois Pedestrian Crash on September 19, 2025

On the night of September 19, 2025, a pedestrian incident in Springfield, Illinois resulted in the death of 55-year-old Walter David Arnold. The collision occurred near the intersection of South Dirksen Parkway and Rochester Road at approximately 10:12 p.m. Arnold was struck by a vehicle while in the roadway. Emergency responders transported him to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at 7:00 a.m. the following morning.

A second individual present at the scene sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a local hospital. The driver of the vehicle remained at the location and has not been arrested.
