Wanda and Linwood Saxon Identified as Victims in Fatal Burke County, GA Crash – August 21, 2025

In Waynesboro, Georgia, on August 21, 2025, a fatal vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 25 South and Coleman Young Road claimed the lives of two local residents, 71-year-old Wanda Williams Saxon and 78-year-old Linwood Douglas Saxon. According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 1:52 p.m. when a vehicle traveling east on Coleman Young Road stopped at a stop sign before attempting to cross onto Highway 25 South. As it entered the roadway, it was struck by a southbound semi-trailer in the right lane.

Emergency responders confirmed that both Wanda and Linwood Saxon succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was transported to Burke Medical Center for evaluation. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division continues to investigate the incident to determine the precise sequence of events that led to this fatal outcome.
