Sarah Johnson Injured in Car Accident on Highway 23 in Pine County

On July 27, 2025, at approximately 1:07 PM, a vehicular accident occurred on Highway 23 near Main Street in Nickerson Township, Pine County, Minnesota. The incident involved a 2016 Ford Explorer, driven by Josiah Verlyn Johnson, 38, of Askov, Minnesota, and a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup, operated by Darryn Stan Talarico, 63, of Duluth, Minnesota. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the Ford Explorer, traveling northbound, attempted to pass the Chevrolet Pickup, also northbound on Highway 23. As the pickup began a left turn into a driveway, the Explorer swerved to avoid a collision, veered off the roadway, and collided with a tree.Sarah Jane Johnson, 38, of Askov, Minnesota, was a passenger in the Ford Explorer and sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. She was transported to Moose Lake Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Other occupants of the Explorer included Thomas James Johnson, 8, who was uninjured but taken to Moose Lake Hospital as a precautionary measure, and Tyler Dean Johnson, 11, who also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received care at the same facility. Both drivers, Josiah Johnson and Darryn Talarico, reported no injuries.
