Shania Ponce and Karim Zapana-Turpo Killed in DUI Crash on SR 410

On July 27, 2025, a fatal head-on collision occurred on State Route 410 in Sumner, Washington, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and the arrest of one suspect on DUI vehicular homicide charges. The victims, identified as Shania M. Ponce, 30, and Karim D. Zapana-Turpo, 53, both residents of Buckley, were pronounced dead at the scene.
